True 'Christians'?

I frequently find myself wondering if these reported 'Christians' such as Paul Ryan, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, etc., who are working diligently to take food from the hungry, stopping healthcare for the poor, keeping the majority working for slave wages, taking away safety nets for our vets, etc., only to give more to the 'money changers' are not 'true' Christians'. If these are not 'true' Christians then, where are they? Are there none to stand up in this den of iniquities and face the lions? Has the pool become so tainted that true Christians only exist in the memories of the distant past?
I have had friends tell me that those in politics, claiming to be Christians, spouting 'values' that they claim are those of Christian morality are not, in fact, Christians. So, I frequently find myself wondering when is someone with a voice going to stand up and say, "These people are assholes!" I'm waiting for someone with power to stand up and say, "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, so you do unto me." I want to hear a voice, a LOUD voice say, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inheret the earth. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. I think the war mongerers among the 'Christians' seem to have overlooked, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the Children of God." Are these not purported to be the tenets of Christianity?

In closing, I hope for the sake of these mysterious 'good; Christians that my friends speak so highly of and claim to be, will all remember this, "Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven."
